Leadership & Administration
Miss K. Scrivens
I have been Headteacher of this wonderful Infant School and Nursery since September 2007. I am passionate about giving children the very best start in life and helping them achieve their potential. I love music and singing and creating a wonderful learning environment for the children where they feel happy and secure and love to learn. Keeping fit forms a big part of my life outside school and I have many wonderful friends who share the fitness craze with me!
I am the first person you will see when visiting our school. I offer a friendly face and advice and support to all parents, carers, family members and visitors. I also ensure the school is in a healthy financial state and carry out all necessary secretarial roles. I feel a big part of this school since I have been involved with Langley Mill Infants ever since my now grown up children attended.
I have been the assistant headteacher since 2008. I have taught all year groups and love seeing the progress children make in each stage of their learning. I hold expertise in mathematics teaching and I help all children with any bullying issues that happen in school and ensure our procedures in this area are rigorous and robust. I love my rescue dog Silas and music of all kinds.
I started here as a newly qualified teacher many years ago and have never fully left! The staff care so much about the children and go over and beyond what is expected to help each and every one reach their potential. I have a keen interest in humanities and lead History and Geography teaching across the school. I love holidays and sharing my travel tales with the children.
I have worked at this school since being a trainee teacher here and I have spent many years becoming highly skilled with teaching early years pupils. I love nursery and reception and support all staff in these years to ensure quality learning through play. It never ceases to amaze me how much the children learn in their first few years of schooling and I feel privileged to be part of their formative years. I love spending time with family and friends after school – especially if 80s music is involved!
I am in my early stages of teaching and have learnt so much from the experienced and dedicated staff who are part of this school. I love science and get the children involved in investigative and enquiry based learning as often as I can. I work very hard with the children developing their phonics skills, in readiness for the national phonics screening check in June each year. I am very interested in photography and take snaps wherever I travel.
I have been the assistant headteacher since 2008. I have taught all year groups and love seeing the progress children make in each stage of their learning. I hold expertise in mathematics teaching and I help all children with any bullying issues that happen in school and ensure our procedures in this area are rigorous and robust.
I became a member of the Langley Mill team in September 2017 and I love working here. The staff support each other so well in providing the highest level of education for the children and their care for every individual and their needs is second to none. I work one day each week in school ensuring that all children with additional needs and/or disabilities have the right support to help them fully access the whole of school life and make important next steps. I hold a high level of experience and expertise in the field of SEND.
I have had lots of different roles at this school and at the heart of them all have been the children. I will do whatever I can to help remove barriers to learning for the children and their families. I provide lots of one to one support to individual children, helping them with any social, emotional and mental health issues, and I have lots of links with outside support agencies. Out of school I love walking my little doggies and my family is everything to me.
I have worked at this school since I relocated to Derbyshire in 2012. I now only work on a supply basis as I have three small children, but I still love being a part of the school and hold dear everything the Headteacher and staff do for pupil and staff mental health and well-being. You will not find another school with people who care about the children and each other quite as much as this one. Out of school I love all things outdoorsy and my husband and I are helping our three littlies to have the same interest in nature.
Teaching and Learning Assistants
My own children attended this school and I have always loved being a part of it. I have been in the early years for several years now as I really enjoying setting up quality play activities, both indoors and out. I love watching the children engaged in their play and all the learning that takes place without them even realising it. This school offers great opportunities for the children and I’m proud to play my part in this. Outside of school, I’ve recently become a keen runner!
I’ve worked here so many years – I’m not sure I want to tell you all how long! I’ve fulfilled many roles during my years here and worked with lots of different children, parents, carers and staff. Variety is the spice of life as they say! I really enjoy supporting children in our on-site Nurture Group and love seeing the children progress in their ability to follow instructions, work with others, talk about feelings and most of all, believe in themselves. I love animals and get involved in lots of charity work, believing that we should all do our bit in caring for our world.
Mrs H. Hallam
Teaching and Learning Assistant
I have worked at Langley Mill for many years and have built up so much experience and expertise through working with lots of different children and teachers. I enjoy all aspects of school life and will always help out where I can. I’m really enjoying being in Year 2 at the moment, and seeing how much progress the children have made since they were in nursery and reception is amazing. We offer the children and families so much here and I am always sad when we have to say goodbye at the end of year two. I’m a very proud mama too – this important job takes up lots of my time outside of school!
Langley Mill is a special place and I have learnt so much since working here as a teaching and learning assistant. I have worked with all of the age groups and enjoy supporting classes in every key stage. Presently I am in Year One, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being with this year group for the past few years and supporting teachers in their early stages of their careers. I enjoy creating displays and making the environment look stimulating and ensure it supports learning. In my spare time I’m a keen caravaner!
I feel so blessed to be able to work in this school, it has a real family feel. I help in all classes but this year I am fulfilling a new reading focussed role. I love supporting children in developing reading skills and believe I can help all children progress in this area. I try and get the children to ‘catch the reading bug’, seeing this as the cornerstone to the rest of the curriculum. You will also see me supporting at lunchtimes and giving lots of first aid and TLC. In line with my love of reading, I’m obsessed with Harry Potter!
I carried out my child development training in this nursery when I was a student and I never left! Langley Mill is special to me as I am part of the local community that it serves. I am an early years specialist and this is where my strengths lie, working with the youngest children. I am very interested in living a healthy lifestyle and try to pass this on to the children wherever I can. I had my first child in 2018 and love using what I have learnt in school with my own child.
I lead Breakfast Club and I’m the play leader for lunchtimes. I also help wherever I am needed in school as a teaching and learning assistant. I’m currently working with the Busy Bees in The Hive, and love supporting children with their emotional and social skills. I really enjoy music and you’ll often catch me singing and dancing in the Early Bird provision! I’m a keen crafter too and make lots of lovely gifts for different occasions.
I have been involved with Langley Mill Infant School and Nursery since my own children attended many years ago. I trained as a teaching assistant here and went on to gain higher level status at this school too. I absolutely love teaching and helping all children achieve their true potential, regardless of background and/or need. I am very creative and I can often be seen putting up displays around school as I share the Headteacher’s vision for creating a fantastic learning environment. Outdoor learning is another passion of mine and I am Forest School leader for the school. In my spare time I enjoy being with my two dogs and my family and continuing my creative flair.
Caretaker & Cleaner
Most of my working life was in a factory before I secured the caretaker post at this school in April 2018, and I wish I’d been here much longer! I feel a genuine member of the staff team and love doing my bit in making the school look clean and tidy and ensuring all areas are safe and well maintained. I spend most of my time with a mop, hoover, duster or sweeper and my toolbox! I’ve enjoyed getting to know all of the children and their families and as a Langley Mill lad I feel I’m really supporting my local community by working here. I love DIY and gardening and get to use my skills here at school.

I come to school every lunchtime to ensure the children are served with a healthy, nutritious meal to get them through the day. I worked at Boots before joining the school and love being in contact with the children everyday. The school works really hard to help the children have appropriate mealtime manners and behaviours and I believe this to be essential in their early years. I enjoy being part of helping them learn and grow. Outside school you’ll often see me out in the open air walking my dogs.

Lunchtime is my favourite part of the day when I head to Langley Mill Infants and serve the children their midday lunch. The dining hall is a wonderful space where the children get to eat and socialise with their friends. The staff make the daily meal like a family dining experience and children are helped to be independent, healthy, caring, polite and helpful. My own daughter attended this school and I know it’s a special place to work and learn.
